We have managed to see my mom and sister every 2 months since Jason was born even though they live out of state, and it looks like that will continue for the near future. I'm so glad, because they both love him so much and it's incredibly sweet to watch them with him. Katy, of course, had to show him how to be tough...
And Mom just likes to blow on his stomach and make him laugh. It's all good.
On our recent visit to Vegas (to see family, to see family!), we checked out Mandalay Bay's "Shark Reef"--a good-sized aquarium complete with full rooms of glass walls. It was pretty cool, and Jason really enjoyed when he could see the fish next to the glass. He was also mesmerized when he could look up and see fish and sharks swimming above us.
So all the baby books say things like, "Baby might be able to hold some weight on legs when supported..." from about 4 months on. Our little Jason has been able to do this since he was only 1 month old! He loved to be "standing" in people's arms, and Aunt Katy decided to try a little experiment. She set him up to stand against his play mat, held him steady, and then let go.....and he could stand for seconds at a time!! Now, I'm no expert, but this seems like quite an accomplishment!
Northern California has perfect weather most of the time, but it has been a bit hot here this summer already. And, since we're not blessed with air conditioning, we have to find other ways to beat the heat....like chillin' in our little baby pool in the back yard. Jason makes this look good!
Here he is splashing in our blow up pool....with an almost-mohawk going!
Mike has taken so well to being a father...Jason is going to grow up with an incredible role model for what it means to be a good husband and good dad. I know I'm lucky every time he walks in the door! To celebrate his first official dad's day, we went out to an English pub for lunch and drinks. It was laid back and perfect--just like Mike!
Dad & Son....
So the truth is I just cannot get enough of my little boy! I go to bed at night, usually exhausted, but already impatient for the morning when I can get out of bed and go pick him up. I imagine it's like this for all new parents....but I for one am overwhelmed by my love for my sweet guy. Sigh. I think I'll go peek in on him in bed right now...<grin>
Posing for the camera...
Having a little giggle...
Enjoying some "tummy time" on Dad's lap...
Melting Mom's heart...
Sucking his toes...a newfound favorite!
Showing Dad what happens if you get too close!
on Daddy time!
